About

Big Filthy Jazz is a Leeds based music collective, formed to help new bands playing original improvised music get together, develop their music and promote themselves. BFJ was founded in 2006 at Leeds College of Music by Aksel Westlund, Eirik Berg Svela, Cat Daniels, Craig Scott and Joost Hendrickx. The idea behind BFJ is to be an informal network of bands and musicians, pooling creative as well as administrative and marketing skills. The bands in the collective presently range from melodic contemporary jazz, via groove based jazz-rock to free improv. The only common denominator is that the material is original and the music improvised.
